I like to paint upside-down, the artwork not me! That way I can focus on close-up colour, texture and detail rather than constantly asking myself if the work looks like a lobster? I often add drips of colour also, this gives a sense of direction and breaks up the composition – it’s all about the image as a whole not the subject matter…
