Like any artist, whether novice or experienced, I can get attached to a work in progress – and that attachment can deepen when the work is completed. This large scale painting of a lobster was a case in point, and it somehow found its way onto my living room wall. Looking at it, I have remembered how much I enjoyed working on it, and I was pleased to see that I did manage to achieve the appearance of depth in the image that I had tried so hard to create. But, for me, it can’t be simply a case of “art for art’s sake”. I always need to mix business with pleasure and make them work together for me, so with not a little regret, I agreed to sell it to a customer who has a home in Devon. I am glad it is going to a good home, but there is a part of me that wishes I could have kept it on my own living room wall…
